The Paeria de Lleida rectifies the error and brings forward the opening date of the Morera Museum
The Paeria de Lleida has rectified the error and decided to move forward the official opening date of the new Morera Museum. Instead of the date initially planned for April 20, the museum will open its doors on April 13. This change has been made in order to respect the deadlines established by the Electoral Law in relation to the European elections that will take place on June 9 [[1]](https://www.ara.cat/llengua/5 -arguments-5-tricks-not-changing-language-not-inconvenient_1_4544047.html).
Guided tours and prior evaluation of the space
Despite this change in the official opening date, the Morera Museum building located on Rambla Ferran will open its doors from the second half of February. During this period, guided tours will be held to allow different groups in the city to make a prior assessment of the space and ensure its accessibility
Inaugural exhibition with a rich collection
The inaugural exhibition of the Morera Museum will feature a collection of between 450 and 470 pieces, documentation and archival material that will reflect the artistic and cultural memory of Lleida in the 20th and 21st centuries. This exhibition will allow visitors to explore and learn about the city’s cultural wealth
A significant architectural intervention
The new space of the Morera Museum has been the subject of an architectural intervention that has allowed the 3,500 square meter building to be reconfigured and reformulated over six floors. This reform has given the building a new uniqueness and has made it possible to create a flexible, modular and fully accessible museography. During the works, remains of the old tanneries dating from the 13th century were discovered, which have been incorporated into the new equipment, bringing added value to its cultural proposal
Collaboration in the construction of the museum
The construction works of the Morera Museum have been carried out by a joint venture made up of the companies Arnó, Sorigué and Romero Polo. This project began ten years ago and the works ended in April 2019. The financing of the works has been shared between the State, the Generalitat, the Diputació de Lleida, the Ajuntament of Lleida and the FEDER funds of the European Union [[1]](https://www.ara.cat/llengua/5-arguments-5-trucs-no-canviar-lengua-no-incomodi_1_4544047.html).
