Luis de la Fuente announces his first call-up for the German Euro Cup

A call full of surprises

Luis de la Fuente, the Rioja coach, has announced his first list for the Euro Cup in Germany that will be held this summer. In an event held in the Luis Aragonés room, he called up 29 players, of which he will have to rule out three before sending the final call-up to UEFA. The objective is to seek the fourth European award for the Spanish team.

In this list, several new features have been presented, the most notable being the inclusion of Fermín López, who makes his debut in the senior team squad after an excellent performance with Barça at the end of the season.

Another surprise has been the presence of Ayoze Pérez, Betis striker, who arrives at the event in great shape. Likewise, Aleix Garcia consolidates himself on the list as an alternative in the midfield after his senior debut last November against Cyprus.

These three players will now have to make an effort to convince Luis de la Fuente and earn a place on the final list, which must be presented before next June 7. The Spanish team will play two friendlies before this date, against Andorra on the 5th and against Northern Ireland on the 8th in Palma de Mallorca, matches that will be decisive for the coach’s final decision.

Representation of clubs and Catalan presence

Barça, along with Real Sociedad, is the team that will contribute the most players to this list. In addition to Fermín López, Pau Cubarsí, Pedri, Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal have also been called up. From Girona, only Aleix Garcia has managed to enter among the chosen ones. The Catalan presence of David Raya, Cucurella and Dani Olmo also stands out.
