Metropolitan public bicycle service in Barcelona

A sustainable mobility service

A year after its launch, the AMBici, the metropolitan public bicycle service, has already exceeded 22,000 users and has exceeded 1.8 million trips. This service, which is owned by the AMB and managed by TMB, has recently been presented in Sant Adrià de Besòs, where it has started operating with four stations and more than 44 electric bicycles.

Extension of the service

Currently, the AMBici is active in 14 municipalities in the metropolis of Barcelona, with 168 stations installed and more than 1,800 bicycles available. In addition, it is planned that the service will be extended to Hospitalet de Llobregat in the near future. This represents a new impulse to promote and facilitate sustainable mobility options in the metropolis of Barcelona.

Data from the first year in service

During the first year of operation, the AMBici registered more than 22,000 users and made more than 1.8 million journeys. The service averages more than 5,000 daily uses during weekdays. The municipalities with the most uses in origin are Badalona, Viladecans, Cornellà de Llobregat and Castelldefels.

Schedules and integration with public transport

The times with the most uses are in the morning, between 7 and 8 a.m., at noon, at 2 p.m., and in the afternoon, between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. This last time slot is the one that registers a greater peak of uses, exceeding 400 per hour. In addition, the AMBici is integrated with the metropolitan public transport system, with seven of the ten most used stations located near public transport interchanges.

Rates and subscriptions

The annual subscription to the AMBici service costs €40 and includes the first 30 minutes of each use at a price of €0.15. After the initial 30 minutes, each 30 minutes costs €0.50. In addition, there is the option of the metropolitan pass, which allows you to use both the AMBici and Bicing services with preferential conditions.
