We believe until the end: Rubén Burgos’ assessment of Valencia Basket’s victory

An Impeccable Collective Party

The coach of Valencia Basket, Rubén Burgos, has positively evaluated the performance of the team against the Hungarian DVTK, which it has overcome by 84-59 in La Fonteta, in the last game of the regular phase of the Euroleague .

“We are satisfied with the collective game we played. We shared the ball well, correctly, with a very fluid game, external and internal balance but building from the defense. The closest they were in the second quarter was state where we conceded more leads, especially to rush some defensive changes. I think our read was good. We corrected that at halftime, another good start, with balance in the fives.”

The Positive Mentality Despite the Difficulties

Despite the fact that Valencia Basket is no longer in control of its destiny to advance to the quarter-finals of the European competition, as it acknowledges, the change in attitude of its team stands out:

“That’s the way, at home we show energy, and we believe until the end and we continue to do what is up to us to see if we have chances to qualify. As we said last week, we cannot afford mistakes in the league, and with the mistake Lugo makes, we will travel to prepare for the next match as best as possible”.

Analysis of Lost Opportunities and Team Evolution

Regarding the missed opportunities in the Euroleague that have led the team to be almost out of options to advance to the quarter-finals, the coach believes that there were several factors:

“We are late in the classification level because we do not depend on ourselves. I do not think that everything has been due to a change in mentality. There have been changes in players, recovery from injuries, state of mind which is very important. I think that the most that makes a human group is the quality of the relationships that are generated in the dressing room. They are being excellent. We all have a clear role, and I don’t know who are the first and second units. Today Hempe is a supporter on the court, but the effort it’s shared. It’s satisfying that we’re all adding up on the same line and, as I said before, let’s see if we’re still on time.”
