The importance of public education
If there was one thing Laura and David were clear about, it was that they wanted their two children to go to public school. That’s why a few months after the senior started I2, they decided to talk to some well-known families to advise them of centers for the next year.
Taking into account the neighborhood where they lived, Plaça Catalunya, and the recommendations they had received, they chose to go to the open doors of five schools. What they didn’t expect for anything in the world, they say, was that “the one we were told the worst about was the one we liked the most by far.” That school was Sant Ignasi, a highly stigmatized listed center of maximum complexity.
An inclusive school with an educational project
Sant Ignasi is a center that stands out for its work in the field of inclusive education. Despite being a center of maximum complexity, it welcomes boys and girls with specific educational support needs (NESE) resulting from a vulnerable family situation. Its educational project is focused on the personalization of learning and the creation of an enriching environment for all students.
The center has received the support of families who already have their children schooled there, who emphasize the quality of the teaching and the individual attention that the students receive. In addition, Sant Ignasi works actively to achieve greater inclusion and reduce school segregation.
The admission decree and singular groups
With the approval of the Admission Decree, families like Laura and David’s have more facilities to access centers like Sant Ignasi. This decree establishes measures to fight school segregation and allows families with children with ordinary places to group together and reserve places in high-complexity schools.
Sant Ignasi has been one of the centers that has successfully implemented this measure. The unique groups have allowed more families with ordinary places to access the centre, contributing to a greater diversity and enrichment of the students.
A growing school
Thanks to the measures implemented and the dissemination work, Sant Ignasi has experienced a significant growth in the number of students. Currently, the center has around 380 students, of which 80% are in a vulnerable situation.
This quality, inclusive school is working to reverse school segregation and provide a first-class education to all its students. Its commitment to personalizing learning and creating an enriching environment makes it an excellent choice for families looking for a quality, inclusive school for their children.
