The former diplomat at the UN wins in Washington D.C., a district with a majority of Democrats
Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and former US ambassador to the UN, scored her first victory against Trump in the Republican primary on Sunday, defeating him in Washington D.C. According to preliminary data from CNN and NBC News, the former US envoy to the UN would have received 63% of the support, while Trump would have stayed with 33%.
It is a symbolic victory, since this district only awards 19 delegates of the 2,429 that will participate in the Republican convention, but it takes place on the eve of “Super Tuesday”, when sixteen states will hold primaries on March 5.
The Supreme Court will decide today whether Trump can continue in the race
The Supreme Court of the United States should make public today its ruling on whether Trump can aspire to the primaries in which he has been excluded for his responsibility in the attack on the Capitol, in 2020. Sources such as the New York Times, the CNN o CBS News pointed out this Monday that there is a “clear indicator” that the Supreme Court will announce its decision on the ability of the Republican for the primaries in Colorado, the first state that banned the ex-president from the competition.
With the 19 delegates won in Washington D.C., one of the most Democratic cities in the country, the Republican has a total of 43, well below the 244 that Trump has, who has won in all other polls so far, including the caucuses of Iowa and Michigan and the primaries of South Carolina.
