Operation KRANBIL: the Civil Guard dismantles a gang that stole agricultural products in Albacete

Two arrested and one investigated for seven thefts on Albacete properties

The ROCA Team of the Albacete Civil Guard has managed to arrest two individuals, aged 30 and 36, residents of Albacete, as allegedly responsible for seven thefts on agricultural land in the province. Likewise, it has investigated a 38-year-old resident of the Albacete town of Peñas de San Pedro as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of receiving part of what was stolen.

The Civil Guard has recovered part of what was stolen in the thefts, which was located on a farm in the municipality of Peñas de San Pedro (Albacete).

The events occurred between June and November 2023

The Civil Guard discovered the theft of agricultural products and fertilizers for them in agricultural plots in the municipalities of Motilleja, Barrax, Chinchilla de Monte-Aragón and Albacete, valued by their owners at more than 41,000 euros.

The first investigations made it possible to know the ‘modus operandi’ used by the perpetrators to commit the thefts and to know that, among them, there were people familiar with the affected areas who used a crane truck or similar to steal the products due to their great weight and volume, specifically 10 pallets of onions, 77 bales of alfalfa and 20 bags of fertilizer.

In the course of the investigations, the Benemérita ROCA Team managed to locate the truck used in the criminal acts, which was attached to a crane that was the one that moved and loaded the heavy and bulky objects that were stolen from the farms.

In addition, the perpetrators used large rental vehicles, where they transported the products stolen in the thefts and which they then offered in different locations in the province of Albacete at a low price.

Two arrested and one investigated for reception

The final phase of the operation allowed the identification and arrest of the two responsible for the criminal acts, who turned out to be residents of Albacete and with police records for criminal offenses against property with similar characteristics to those investigated.

Operation “KRANBIL” has made it possible to clarify a total of seven thefts committed on agricultural farms in the municipalities of Motilleja, Barrax, Chinchilla de Monte-Aragón and Albacete.

In a district of Peñas de San Pedro, 12 bales of alfalfa with a total weight of 6,000 kilos have been recovered, as well as 14 bags of nitrate fertilizer that weighed 8,400 kilos, which is why one person has been investigated. for a crime of reception.

These products, recovered by the Civil Guard in the police operation, are already in the possession of their legitimate owners.
