The Kremlin condemns the Russian deserter shot in Alicante

The head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Narixkin, charged this Tuesday against Maksim Kuzimov, the defecting Russian pilot who appeared dead in Vila Joiosa (Marina Baixa) last week. Narixkin described Kuzimov as a ‘moral corpse’ from the moment he planned his act of defection.

Reaction of Ukraine

From Ukraine, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Oleksei Danilov, has stated that they invited the defector to stay on Ukrainian territory when he decided to leave the Russian ranks. Danilov has expressed that ‘he would have been protected’ if he had accepted the offer.

Details of the desertion

According to Ukrainian media, Kuzimov defected in August and made his defection public at a public event. Russian public television claimed there was an order to liquidate the soldier in September. Kuzimov’s body had six bullet wounds and several sources have confirmed his identity as a deserter.
