The commission of inquiry in Congress
After long complaints, the congressional commission of inquiry into the 17-A attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils has been set up and has started to get underway. The different parliamentary groups have presented their work plans, and the commission is expected to debate these proposals in the coming days.
The objectives of political formations
The ERC and Junts parties have shown a certain strategic unity in the objectives and methods they want to apply to the commission. The documents presented by the two groups emphasize the need to know the truth about the victims beyond the judicial truth, as well as to clarify the possible political responsibilities derived from the attacks.
The relationship of the imam of Ripoll with the CNI
Both ERC and Junts emphasize the relationship of the imam of Ripoll, Abdelbaky Es Satty, with the National Intelligence Center (CNI). They demand the declassification of the documents that are in the hands of the CNI on the attacks and on the activity in Spain of Abdelbaky Es Satty.
Work plans and priorities
The work plans of the parliamentary groups prioritize unraveling the figure of the imam. Thus, it is requested to analyze the inconsistencies detected regarding the identification of the remains of Es Satty, as well as to know in detail the relationship of the imam with the CNI and the actions of the Ministry of the Interior in relation to Es Satty.
Other objectives and measures
The parties also include in their work plans the proposal for measures to prevent and control informants from the police and intelligence services, as well as the need to clarify errors in the chain of communication and coordination between the police forces in relation to the imam of Ripoll.
