A Different Reception
The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has opted for a different reception on his arrival at the Fira de Barcelona in Gran Via de l’Hospitalet to inaugurate the MWC. On this occasion, he decided not to participate in the reception for the King, but later he greeted him in front of the cameras and joined the official photo with Felipe VI and the head of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez.
Accompanied by Important Figures
Aragonès has arrived accompanied by the President of the Parliament, Anna Erra, and the Vice President of the Government, Laura Vilagrà. During their stay, they greeted several authorities, including the leaders of the GSMA, the mayor of L’Hospitalet, Núria Marín, and the highest officials of Fira.
Greetings and Protocol
After a brief greeting to the King, Aragonès entered the pavilion, where he had the opportunity to greet Felipe VI in the presence of the cameras. This attitude has been consistent with its position in previous editions.
Reunions i Protocol
During the MWC 2024 welcome dinner, Aragonès maintained his line of not participating in the reception of the monarch as a gesture of rejection of the Crown. This meeting took place at the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) as a prologue to the official opening. At the presidential table, Aragonès shared space with important figures from the business and political world.
Recognition and Protocol
Previously, the president of the Spanish government met the new head of the House of the King, the diplomat Camilo Villarino, with whom he had a brief conversation. Afterwards, everyone present took part in the usual family photo that opens the MWC, the world’s largest mobile technology conference.
