The president of the PP in Catalonia
The president of the Popular Party in Catalonia, Alejandro Fernández, has predicted that Pedro Sánchez’s candidate in the next Catalan elections will be president Pere Aragonès.
Fernández has expressed his opinion during a conference in Tarragona, stating that despite the fact that Salvador Illa won the last election, it is not an alternative but Sánchez’s crutch.
The popular leader has criticized that Pedro Sánchez is not campaigning for his candidates, but for the Catalan and Basque independence parties. He also regretted that the PSOE of Felip González and Alfonso Guerra no longer exists.
The amnesty law and the strengthening of constitutionalism
Fernández has stated that the amnesty law will be approved soon and that the antidote to nationalism is the strengthening of constitutionalism.
The leader of the PP has argued that Pedro Sánchez does not lead the PSOE, but is the leader of a new popular front. He emphasized that in the Galician elections, the PSOE candidate was from the Galician nationalist bloc, and in the next Basque elections, the candidate will be from the PNB or Bildu, depending on who wins.
In the case of the Catalan elections, Fernández has predicted that Sánchez’s candidate will be Pere Aragonès.
The courts and the amnesty law
Fernández has warned that the courts will annul the amnesty law once it has been approved and activated. He has defended that constitutionalism must be strengthened and that the spirit of October 8 must be recovered.
Criticism of socialists
In his speech, Fernández accused the socialists of deceiving the electorate in the campaign and asked the constitutionalists not to fall into their traps.
He has affirmed that the socialists convinced a significant part of Spanish society that a change of government would lead to already consolidated rights being in danger, and they spread the idea of a serious problem of sexism, racism and homophobia, which according to Fernández is false
For all of this, he has called on the constitutionalists not to straighten up.
