The leader of the PSC denies having hired the company of the ex-advisor of Ábalos and is willing to collaborate with justice
The head of the opposition in Parliament and first secretary of the PSC, Salvador Illa, wanted to put an end to the matter of irregular commissions that has shaken the PSOE in recent days. In an interview granted to RNE this Tuesday night, the socialist leader stated that, when he was Minister of Health, he did not make any contract with the company of Koldo García, former adviser to the former minister José Luis Ábalos and that he is being investigated for collecting commissions on various contracts for the purchase of masks. “Neither Ábalos nor anyone else that I know intervened in this matter,” Illa declared this Wednesday, adding that he has “a completely clear conscience” and that he is “fully prepared” to help justice. “During the pandemic I answered twenty questions a day,” he recalled.
Illa disagrees with Ábalos’ decision to keep the minutes of deputy and reminds him of the collective commitment
On the other hand, the leader of the PSC also spoke about Ábalos’ final decision not to renounce his act as deputy – as requested by the PSOE. In this regard, Illa disagreed with the step taken by the former minister and reminded him that “when you are part of a collective project that requires a step to the side, you must attend to these sole… requests”.
Illa calls for a firm and clear attitude towards possible cases of corruption in the PSOE
Regarding the position of the PSOE regarding possible cases of corruption, Illa was resounding assuring that “we cannot tolerate behaviors like those we have seen these days from people who, in very difficult times, which I experienced firsthand, take advantage of the situation to benefit personally. You need to have a very firm, very clear attitude and transmit to society the spirit of absolute collaboration as we have done.”
Illa defends the budget agreement with ERC as an exercise in responsibility and a useful policy
Regarding the budget agreement that was signed this Tuesday morning between the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, and the PSC for the budgets, Illa defended that this is “an exercise of responsibility and useful policy” and, in his opinion, it is good for Catalonia. “We cannot transfer the problems of a Government that has not quite found its place to the Catalans,” said the socialist leader.
In this line, Illa insisted that the PSC wants to make useful politics, focused on trying to solve the problems of the citizens and pointed out that Catalonia is currently experiencing “a complex moment”. “We are reaping the fruits of 10 years lost in Catalonia and we are facing a drought with very worrying effects for the economy and Catalan society”, in addition to referring to the poor results in education after the PISA report. For him, in this context “the right thing” was to reach an agreement with ERC for the budgets of the Generalitat and he asked the rest of the political forces to rise to the moment, he said verbatim.
