About thirty establishments in the region participate in this gastronomic initiative

The Garrotxa Hospitality Association is once again launching Porcus Refinatus, a campaign that invites you to taste tapas and dishes made with pork as the main ingredient. This is the second edition of this proposal, which was well received last autumn. Now, the Association has decided to repeat the experience in the month of March, from the 1st to the 17th, coinciding with the time when the pork slaughter takes place.

The restaurants that adhere to it will offer a dish and a tapas (called the Plat mes Porc and the Tapa mes Marrana). The cover will cost four euros and the dish will be part of the establishments’ menus. The participating restaurants and bars in Olot are the following: La Brasera, La Mallorquina, La Vermuteria, Wabi Sabi, La Cuina de l’Orfeó, Can Blay, Alba 2008, La Vinoteca, La Deu, La Moixina, La Quina Justa, Eko, Els Amolls, Les Pedretes, La Perla, B-Crac Solfa, Boccafina and B-Creck Plaça Clarà. In the rest of the region there are: Hostal dels Ossos, Ca la Matilde, Sant Miquel de Sant Esteve d’en Bas, L’Hostalet, Can Xel, Ca la Carmelita, Mas Siubès, L’Arcada de Fares, Cal Sastre, Can Morera de les Preses and Can Vergés de Batet.

The campaign also wants to recognize local pork producers

The campaign not only wants to encourage the consumption of pork, but also to highlight the local producers who make this product. For this reason, a space is dedicated in the information brochure where some of the producers of the region are presented. The association also intends that, in the future, they can organize gastronomic days dedicated to pork.

A cooking workshop on traditional casseroles complements the campaign

As a parallel activity to the campaign, a lifetime casserole cooking workshop has also been scheduled to be taught by Felip Hontoria from Ca la Matilde de Sant Feliu de Pallerols, Jordi Vilarrassa and Fermí Corominas, placers of Plaça Mercat . The workshop will take place on Tuesday, March 5 at 6 pm in the Kitchen Room in Plaça Mercat d’Olot. On social networks, the association will raffle 14 vouchers of 50 euros in batches of pork products

Through the account @garrotxahostalatge, the association also wants to reward its followers with 14 vouchers worth 50 euros in batches of Vilarrasa Meats and Sausages, Gori Sausages, Masó Sausages, Planagumà Butchery, Vila Meats, Porcs Casolans Corominas and Eco Riera .
