A Diversified Christmas Program
Cocentaina has launched into the celebration of Christmas with a series of activities that include art exhibitions, concerts, and a nativity scene competition. Among the novelties this year, a Playmobil Nativity Scene and the Christmas School stand out, in addition to traditions such as the Man with the Ears and the arrival of the Royal Pageant.
Start of Cancelled Parties and Activities
The Christmas season began on December 5th with the lighting of the lights, but not everything has been a bed of roses. The first activity, the Corriola festival, was affected by strong winds, forcing its cancellation.
Exhibitions and Local Markets
On December 13, the Sala d’Armes del Palau Comtal will host RegalArt, a local art exhibition that will be available until January 10. The following day, the Pati d’Armes will be transformed into a design and craft market, highlighting the creativity of contestan artists.
Cultural and Musical Activities
The weekend of December 15 promises excitement with a Christmas market in Plaça Cardenal Ferris and a concert by the Discantus Chamber Choir, highlighting the collaboration of local musicians.
Nativity Scene Competition
Residents will be able to participate in the XLIII Nativity Scene Competition, which will award 490 euros in prizes until December 20. In addition, the Municipal Library will host a Playmobil Nativity Scene, complemented by a game and gift raffle for the little ones.
Special Events and Activities for Children
The La Paloma Pols i Plectrum Orchestra Christmas Concert and the Nadaletes Festival promise to entertain families on December 21. Children will also be able to participate in the Christmas School, which will be held at the end of the month.
Christmas Traditions in Cocentaina
On December 31st, children will participate in the celebration of the Man of the Ears, with parades and traditional games. At the beginning of the year, the Royal Page will arrive to collect letters of wishes, followed by the Royal Camp and the Three Kings Parade.
A Message of Hope
Marcela Richart, Councilor for Traditions, highlights the importance of these festivities in uniting the community. She invites everyone to enjoy the activities, support local businesses and bring a message of hope to those who need it most during these holidays.
