Boost for the agri-food sector in the Odena Basin
The Conca d’Òdena Agricultural Park has taken a significant step towards revitalizing the agri-food sector with the recent signing of a collaboration agreement with the Jorba City Council. This alliance will allow the establishment of a shared workshop, a space designed to facilitate the transformation of local producers’ raw materials into high-value-added products.
A collaboration and innovation facility
Located in a building provided by the Jorba City Council, the workshop is the result of a joint investment between the Barcelona Provincial Council, which has provided 171,645.89 euros, and the Generalitat de Catalunya, which has contributed 53,000 euros. The Anoia Regional Council and the 16 municipalities that make up the Agricultural Park have also played a fundamental role in supporting this project. With an approximate surface area of 120 m², the workshop is designed to meet the needs of processing both dairy and vegetable products.
Spaces and equipment for food innovation
The workshop is divided into two main sections. The first, focused on vegetable processing, is equipped with stoves, ovens, work tables and a series of necessary utensils such as industrial dishwashers and cold rooms. This space will allow the creation of products such as vegetable creams and preserves. The second section, dedicated to dairy production, has advanced equipment for the production of yogurts, cheeses and ice cream. This configuration will allow producers to diversify their offer and adapt to market demands.
Training and reception capacities for producers
The first months of 2025 will mark the start of a training program for the use of the workshop’s machinery, as well as a familiarization period for producers who wish to use the facilities. In addition, a campaign will be implemented to attract more local artisans, inviting them to take advantage of this new infrastructure. A project that unites the community
The signing of the agreement for the transfer of the space was carried out by the mayor of Jorba, Pilar Queralt, and the vice-president of the Agricultural Park, Pep Gorgori. Queralt expressed his satisfaction with the achievement of this project, which is the result of four years of collaboration between various local agents. He highlighted that the opening of the workshop will share the benefits with the entire community, guaranteeing the quality of the products and reinforcing sustainability in the Conca d’Òdena.
A model to follow in the national context
Pep Gorgori pointed out that this workshop is not just a local facility, but represents a model to follow at a national level, with the aim of giving more visibility to local producers and promoting more responsible and local consumption. This initiative marks an important step in the creation of a sustainable production network that can serve as an example for other regions.
