The transfer of the fair

This Sunday, the storm of wind and rain has forced the transfer of the fair of independent publishers from L’Escala Vila de Llibre. The inclement weather has caused damage to the tents, the stage and the installations on the beach of Les Barques, where the festival was planned to take place.

Faced with the impossibility of keeping the market on the beach, the organization has taken the decision to move it to the Sala Polivalent de l’Escala, together with the workshops and children’s shows.

Reactions and impact

Enric Bono, director of the Xarxa de Villes del Llibre, has acknowledged that the change has certainly affected the influx of visitors, but highlights the good literary health of L’Escala. Despite the upheaval, the event managed to gather around 6,000 people the day before.

According to ACN, the new location of the fair has been filling up with visitors throughout the day, who have praised the quick action of the organization to find a new location.

Greek culture in focus

This sixth edition has highlighted Greek culture, beyond the connection of the municipality with ancient civilization through the site of Empúries. Enric Bono has explained that this change responds to the desire to start a new cycle of connections between the Empordà and other Mediterranean cultures.

We are betting on dedicating future editions to other Mediterranean cultures, such as Rome and the Maghreb, with the aim of enriching the cultural diversity present at the fair.
