The worrying situation of sports budgets
As February progresses, the city has not yet approved budgets, a situation that impacts directly on the sports field. The sport gala of 2024, an expected event, had to be canceled due to the lack of funds for the prizes. This delay not only affects celebrations, but also prevents the signing of agreements with sports organizations, leaving many of them with uncertain funding.
The effects of delay in subsidies
With the current sports season about to end, the entities face significant federation expenses, but without the guarantee of the necessary resources. This situation generates great uncertainty for athletes, who have to manage their budgets with a lack of support that can commit their activities.
Popular Party proposals for budget 2025
The Popular Party has identified two key priorities for next year’s budget negotiation. First, the creation of a new sports facility in the Santa Rosa district, which could alleviate the load on the Francisco Laporta sports center and the Eduardo Latorre sports complex, thus benefiting the neighbors who currently have to travel to sports.
In addition, the second line of action proposed is the increase in resources, both economic and human, aimed at maintaining sports infrastructure. An improved budget item is essential to ensure the proper functioning of public facilities in Alcoy, thus improving the conditions for all users.
Urgent actions for sports maintenance
Several actions are considered priority, such as the renewal of the artificial grass of fields 1 and 2 of the Serpis, as well as the repair of the roofs of the pavilions. The current situation requires an immediate response to prevent athletes from being harmed.
Strategies to improve facilities
To address the challenges facing the sports facilities of Alcoy, various measures are proposed: the creation of an updated municipal budget, the application for subsidies from other administrations, establish collaborations with the private sector and encourage citizen participation in decision -making on sports projects.
A preventive maintenance plan is essential to prevent greater damage and future costs. It is unacceptable that complaints occur due to the lack of hot water or that the facilities are in a state of deterioration, such as the pavilions with plastic roofs to prevent leaks.
The image of Alcoy in the spotlight
Incidents have recently been reported during hockey matches, including falls and interruptions to dry the court. The question is: What will happen if a similar situation is presented during a European Pas Alcoy competition match? Is this image the one we want to project as a city?
The Popular Party will continue to denounce the lack of resources and the inadequate management of sports facilities under the current government. We demand that more funds be assigned and that the announced projects be carried out effectively, without their empty promises.
