A new competition for veteran players

This week sees the start of the first edition of the League of Football-7 Legends, a competition specially designed for players over 35 years of age. This league, organized by the Alt Empordà Sports Council, has the participation of eighty players from six federated clubs in the region: La Jonquera, Sant Llorenç de la Muga, Marca de l’Ham, Esplais, Roses and Empuriabrava- Castellón It is a unique opportunity for these veteran players to enjoy football again and demonstrate their skills on the pitch.

The outstanding players of each team

Each team has outstanding players who have shone in territorial football in the past. In La Jonquera, we find players such as Josep Serra, Robert Prat, Romà Bruses, Txiki Cabezos, Manel García and Lluís Serra, the latter currently playing for Figueres veterans. Sant Llorenç de la Muga lines up players such as Pere Guillaumes, Sergio Romero Gallo and Ivan Arché, current president of the entity. Esplais, on the other hand, has a group of players who fought for promotion to the First Regional, such as Joaquim Pallissera Palli, Francesc Moñino, Jofre Güell, Àlex Casadevall, David Robledillo and Pau Piris. The brothers Edu and Jaume Sastre, Juanjo Muñoz, Juandi Herrera and Txirri Plujà are some of the outstanding players of Roses. Marca de l’Ham has players like Joan Santos, Kike González, Carlos Reyes and Sergio Macarro. Finally, Empuriabrava-Castelló has veteran Empuriabrava players, such as Hicham Al Hamidi, Etko Catovic, Adil El Amrani, Joel Segundo Ramírez, Luis Miguel Gaucho and Diego Antonio Reyes.

Calendar and results

The Football-7 Legends League matches are played every fortnight, from Monday to Thursday, and the competition will end in May. The first match in the history of the league was between La Jonquera and Roses, with a final result of 4-4. The next match will be between Marca de l’Ham and Esplais, and will be played this Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. On Thursday, Sant Llorenç de la Muga will face Empuriabrava-Castelló at 20:45.
