The long way to the stage

After a long waiting period, the production ‘Alice in a real world’ has finally found its place on stage. Originally scheduled for March 2020, the work had to overcome numerous obstacles before being presented to the public. This adaptation of the eponymous graphic novel, which explores the experience of a woman with breast cancer, has been created by Briana, with dramaturgy by Isabel Franc and Teresa Urroz.

Alice: A reflection of reality

Alice’s character, played by Sílvia Sabaté, is an alter ego of the writer Isabel Franc. Through her, the work tells the story of a journalist who has to deal with the illness and the complicated relationships with her ex -notors. The work combines humor and tenderness to address difficult issues, turning moments of pain on occasions for reflection and empathy.

A dynamic and diverse distribution

Accompanying Sabaté, an exceptional actor cast brings depth to the plot. Roser Batalla, Susana Egea and Blanca Pàmpols represent crucial figures in the life of Alice, each contributing his own perspective and style to the story. The live music of Mireia Tejero, who complements the stage action, adds an emotional dimension to the experience.

Visual metaphors and shocking scenery

The set design, designed by Meritxell Muñoz López, incorporates symbolic elements that help transmit the internal struggle of Alice. A cracked wall at the bottom of the stage represents the wounds that causes the disease, while a huge curtain made of bottles illustrates the treatments that must be followed. This innovative visual proposal allows the public to connect even more with the narrative.

A message of force and community

In addition to his social criticism, ‘Alice in a real world’ emphasizes the importance of solidarity and emotional support between women. Through his experience, Alicia reminds us that, even in the darkest moments, friendship and love can be a source of unmatched strength. The work invites us to reflect on the beauty of the vulnerability and power of the community.

A reflection of contemporary feminism

At a time when female voices gain strength in art, ‘Alice in a real world’ is presented as a work that not only addresses health issues, but also issues of female identity and aesthetics. The piece is a testament to how women, in all their creative roles, are ready to challenge the rules and share their stories with the world.

With the premiere of ‘Alice in a real world’, the theater once again demonstrates its power as a means of social transformation, and reminds us that each personal story is a step further towards a deeper understanding of life and its complexities.
