A new age for Doctor Ferran Street
The City Council of Reus has started an ambitious project to revitalize Doctor Ferran, a road that is currently in a precarious state. The aim is to transform this urban space into a more accessible and sustainable environment, prioritizing the mobility and safety of pedestrians, especially near the General School Prim.
Project division in phases
The works will be developed in two well -defined stages. The first phase, which is now in tender, covers from Avenida dels Països Catalans to Roger de Belfort Street. This initial section contemplates the creation of a single platform, facilitating access and mobility for all users.
First phase details
In this phase, the area between Avenida dels Països Catalans and Lepant Street will become a unique platform, while the subsequent section will present a two -level design, with differentiated roads and sidewalks. This solution seeks to guarantee a safe and accessible passage for pedestrians.
A more green and more cozy street
The project is also committed to environmental sustainability, as it is expected to plant 44 new trees, 25 of which are during the first phase. This initiative will not only improve street aesthetics, but will also contribute to the quality of life of the neighbors, following the lines of the program ‘Reus breathing’.
Environmental benefits
In addition to providing shadow, trees will help reduce urban temperature and improve air quality, creating more pleasant spaces for the community. The diversity of species of chosen trees will guarantee greater resistance to possible pests.
Improvements in lighting and accessibility
The renovation of the street will include a significant improvement in the street lighting. In the first phase, it is planned to increase the light points from 7 to 19, with a strategic placement to minimize the inconvenience in the neighborhood. This new lighting will also promote energy efficiency.
Future budget and expectations
The budget for the first phase of the works is 405,023.94 euros. Design details include a single platform section to ensure the safety of children attending the school and a two -level section that will maintain access to the parking areas and the needs of the community.
Key design aspects
The design of the street contemplates a secure school environment, with appropriate parking areas and urban furniture elements such as benches and bins. The new infrastructure will not only improve circulation, but also provide a more welcoming space for all.
Reflections on the urban future
With this project, Reus not only transforms a street, but also advances to a more sustainable and friendly city. The remodeling of Doctor Ferran Street represents an important step towards a future where quality of life and sustainability become fundamental priorities.
