Reviving the story: Solivella celebrates its medieval past

An immersion in the medieval past

The medieval past of Solivella will be revived on May 17 with the Historical Recreation Day ‘Torrebesses 1427: The feudal lords, sale and liberation of the town’. This event, which commemorates the sale of the town and its castle in 1427, was presented by prominent figures such as Agustí Jiménez, vice president of the Diputación de Lleida, and Mario Urrea, mayor of Solivella.

Activities for all tastes

The day promises a wide variety of activities, from 11:00 to 7:00 p.m. Attendees will be able to enjoy medieval trades workshops such as spinning, cereing and blacksmiths, in addition to the installation of the Cubrae camp, where weapons and clothing of the time will be exhibited.

Fun for little and large

Children and adults will have the opportunity to participate in an air circus workshop, where they can experience the art of climbing by fabrics and perform stunts in the trapezoid. There will also be craft workshops and a parade by Els Joglars de la Bota, which will offer a dance and juggling show.

A focus on local history

Jiménez emphasized the importance of joining efforts between municipalities to enhance cultural heritage. He stressed that this event not only seeks to revive history, but also open a space for the community to enjoy and participate, ensuring that ‘the future of our municipalities depends on the collaboration and creation of new alliances’.

Spectacular closure with theater

The day will culminate with a theatrical show designed by the ‘theatrical’ company, which will recreate the events that occurred on May 5, 1427 in an entertaining way for all types of audiences. This closure promises to be a climax that visitors should not be lost.

Promoting cultural tourism

For the first time, the Solivella City Council organizes this event with the intention of attracting new visitors and highlighting the history of the people. The activity is registered within the initiative ‘Al Poble Hay de Tot’, backed by the Diputación de Lleida and the group of Micropueblos del Segrià, which seeks to promote cultural fairs and forums between municipalities.

A collaboration project

Urrea stressed that the dissemination of cultural heritage is crucial for the development of local tourism, and that events like this are the beginning of a series of activities that will strengthen the connection between the peoples of the region, stating that ‘when we work together and share resources, we can achieve great things for our communities’.
