A forceful sentence
The Provincial Court of Lleida has made a firm decision against an individual involved in a violent incident during the festivities of Almenar. The court has issued a sentence of 6 years in prison, in addition to the expulsion of the country for a period of 10 years after completing two thirds of its sentence. This resolution comes after an agreement between the prosecution, the defense and the accusation, where the man admitted his guilt in the facts.

The events took place on the night of September 16, 2023, when the convicted, which at that time, was 28 years old, began a fight that resulted in two serious aggressions. With a small knife, he first attacked a man on his back, and later tried to stab another individual on his neck. This second man managed to defend himself with his arm, suffering from the forearm injuries.

The injuries were so severe that one of the assaulted was taken to Arnau de Vilanova Hospital, where he spent two days in the Intensive Care Unit. His status required an additional three -day hospital stay.

The court has not only imposed a prison sentence, but also issued a compensation of more than 15,000 euros for the victims of the aggression.
