A project that stands out in the European landscape

The extension of the Central Park of Igualada, with the incorporation of a skatepark with an innovative Pumtrack and the Biollac, has been chosen as one of the 73 finalist projects in the FAD Architecture 2025 Awards. This edition has received a total of 454 proposals, and the city and landscape category has recognized 11 outstanding projects.

Integration with the environment: more than a simple equipment

The jury praised the way skatepark, with an extension of more than 1,000 m², has been integrated harmoniously into the natural and urban environment. This installation is not only one of the largest in Catalonia, but it has also become a point of reference for sports competitions.

Citizen Participation: The added value of the project

In addition to its innovative design, the project has been recognized for its participatory dimension. The children of Igualada have been active during the creation process, contributing their ideas and needs, which has greatly enriched the final proposal.

A recognition that underlines the city’s future vision

Mayor Marc Castells emphasized that this space has become a community activity center, promoting health, leisure and sport. The selection of the FAD Awards represents a new step in the direction of urban renaturalization and quality design, which is reflected in projects such as the Green Ring, recognized with four awards nationally and internationally.

The project’s creators and their commitment

The presentation ceremony was attended by key figures such as Pol Martín and Jaume Sala. Pol, who was the main head of the design of the skatepark, emphasized the decision to place this facility in a central location and close to nature, unlike the tendency of other municipalities to locate it in outlying areas.

A weekend full of events

The Central Park is preparing to host a new sporting event with the celebration of BikeParadise and Patinafest this weekend, consolidating itself as a focus of urban attraction and revitalization for the city of Igualada.
