A movement seeking radical changes
A group of five members of the Igualada Commerce Board has launched a campaign to collect about fifty signatures with the aim of calling an extraordinary assembly. This action seeks the resignation of the current president, Laura Llucià, and the holding of elections to form a new board, respecting the statutes of the entity.
Called Called: A controversial decision
Directors recently asked Llucià, through a burofax, the call for an urgent meeting to discuss the future of the organization. However, the president annulled the meeting scheduled for May 16 in the early morning, generating a significant crisis within the entity. This decision was reported through a message to the board’s WhatsApp group.
Resignations and unexpected support
In the previous days, four members of the board, including Josep Vidal and Joan Marquillas, resigned, adding pressure to the situation. Despite this, five other members, including Oscar Cuadras and Sílvia Garcia, presented themselves to the meeting, recognizing that the current board, with only nine members instead of the twelve required, urgently need an assembly and new elections.
The History of Francesc Pua
Another notable aspect is the case of Francesc Pua, who, despite being elected in the last election, resigned to disassociate with his previous company. Llucià recently tried to reinstate him as vice president, but the members present rejected the proposal, claiming that he contradicted the regulations.
Financial transparency in doubt
The five members who have promoted the collection of signatures have issued a letter to the associates to present the serious situation of the entity. In this context, they have denied any irregularity in the accounts related to the “Made.igd” event, organized by Igualada Commerce during the Rec.0 in the Sports Center of the Divine Pastora.
Demands for transparency
The President has requested a detailed report of the expenses of the last three years, as well as information on the operations performed with a POS terminal that belongs to the entity’s communication chief. The members of the Board have expressed perplexity in the face of this application, arguing that this data has always been transparently shared through the WhatsApp internal group.
CRITICAL TO CURRENT MANAGEMENT
Dissenting executives have stated that they have always attended meetings and tried to provide ideas and responsibilities, but that Llucià has not taken care of their proposals. They also said that before the recent crisis, the Vice President sought to convene an unsuccessful meeting, as the President did not respond to his communications. This situation has led to the urgent need to convene an assembly to restore stability to the entity.
