Puigdemont’s party calls for a reduction in inheritance tax and breaks off negotiations with ERC

Junts per Catalunya has made a surprising move and presented a full amendment to the Generalitat’s budget project. This was revealed by Catalunya Ràdio and ratified by the Catalan News Agency (ACN), which reported that the Junts parliamentary group registered the amendment shortly before the end of the deadline. Already last week they had presented another amendment in its entirety to the law accompanying the budgets. The Government had tried until the last moment to reach an agreement with Junts, but the demand of Carles Puigdemont to subsidize 99% of the inheritance tax has blocked the talks.

The Parliament will debate six amendments in their entirety and the Government will have to seek the support of the commons

This Wednesday, Parliament will discuss the amendments in their entirety that have been presented by Junts, the CUP, the commons, Vox, Ciutadans and the PP. With the decision of Junts, the Government is left with no margin and will have to agree with the commons if it does not want the budgets to go back to the beginning. Jéssica Albiach’s party has made it clear that its vote in favor of the accounts depends on the cancellation of the Hard Rock project.

ERC, in a difficult situation

The position of the Republicans is not at all easy, since the PSC also requires the macro-tourist complex to support the accounts, but in the case of the Socialists they want it to continue. In fact, it is a requirement that comes from the 2023 budget negotiations and which has not yet been fulfilled because, according to the Generalitat, it is a complex matter that is being analyzed by technicians and the Government cannot influence the deadlines.

The Vice President of the Government, Laura Vilagrà, urges the commons to negotiate without the Hard Rock

The Vice President of the Government, Laura Vilagrà, has called on the commons to join the negotiation without the Hard Rock. “Citizens vote for us because we do the common good. I am convinced that the electorate of the commons is what it wants. We have been presented with interesting proposals and we need time to try to agree on them”, he said in an interview with Ser Catalunya. Vilagrà has ruled out agreeing with Junts on any modification of the inheritance tax because the party’s proposals are “maximalist and neoliberal”.
