Remove the past: The Market Festival in the Square
During the days of May 15 to 17, Amposta was transformed into a real living museum, where the fashion of the 20th century was the protagonist. This seventeenth edition of the Market Festival in the square witnessed a large number of visitors, who enjoyed a wide range of scheduled activities.
A celebration of local fashion and culture
Mayor Adam Tomàs thanked all the collaborators who made this event possible. In his words, he emphasized that this year’s edition had been marked by a festive and participatory atmosphere, with a remarkable success in attending shows and activities.
A historical -meaning speech
The opening of the party was attended by Neus Fornós, a dressmaker who paid tribute to the less recognized figures who contributed to local fashion. His speech recalled the importance of these traditional trades, which have often remained in the shade.
Varied activities and shows
In addition to the novelties such as the fashion show, the Councilor for Culture and Historical Memory, Inés Martí, emphasized that every year the range of activities was expanded. The performances both in enclosed and outdoors were designed to maximize the experience of the public, with a program that avoided overlap.
Group contests and activities
The Pepito de Canes clothing contest attracted a great participation, both individual and group. Other outstanding activities include the riddle 113 “thread for randa” and the dance of the Fanalet de les Serenes, which gathered hundreds of participants in a festive atmosphere.
An extended gastronomic offer
Pilar Segura, director of the party, emphasized the increase in the gastronomic offer, with 13 taverns and more than 60 stops, which helped to make this edition a dynamic and immersive experience.
Closing and future of the party
With the celebration of ‘Lo Paseo’ and a final fire, the XVII Market Festival in the square came to an end, leaving behind a positive balance that will serve as a base for the next edition. The impact of the event was not only noticeable on assistance, but also on the support of the Diputació de Tarragona through the Impulsdipta Plan.
