Promotion to Andorran research
With the aim of fostering innovation and scientific research, the Government of Andorra has announced the opening of the call for aid for research projects that will be carried out in 2025. This initiative, which is supported by the Ministries of Institutional Relations, Education and Universities, as well as culture, youth and sports, seeks to stimulate the development of works that address relevant topics for the Principality.
Type of Aid available
The call has a total fund of 40,000 euros, distributed among various types of aid. One of the most important grants is for generic research projects, which seeks to fund basic or applied studies focused on Andorra, as well as initiatives that bring direct benefits to the country. The maximum amount of this aid is 15,000 euros.
Help Lídia Armengol Vila
In addition, the aid Lídia Armengol Vila, with an amount of 10,000 euros, is used for research and transfer projects that focus on linguistic or sociolinguistic aspects related to the Catalan language in Andorra. Initiatives that address anthroponymy themes will be especially evaluated.
Cebrià Baraut help
On the other hand, the help Cebrià Baraut, also of 10,000 euros, is aimed at historical research works that use the documentation of the National Archive of Andorra as the main source. This modality excludes projects that are limited to the editing of documentary collections or the creation of catalogs.
Encouraging amateur research
As a novelty, this year a new modality of aid for amateur researchers has been introduced. This initiative aims to encourage those who, without having a doctorate, wish to contribute to the research in the Principality with projects that have a maximum duration of one year, with a funding of 5,000 euros.
Requirements and application deadlines
Applications for grants can be submitted for both residents and foreigners, individually or in groups. Entities, such as universities or research centers, can also participate in the types of generic theme, Lídia Armengol Vila and Cebrià Baraut. The projects must have a maximum duration of two years, starting from September 2025 and ending before December 31, 2027. In the case of the modality for amateur researchers, the project must end by December 31, 2026.
The period for submitting applications opens on May 22, 2025 and closes on July 25, 2025 at 14:30, and the demands can be processed through the official electronic headquarters.
