Citizen request to preserve the educational offer
A group of families in Vilanova del Camí has launched a campaign to collect signatures with the aim of preserving the second line of Infantil 3 (I3) at the Pompeu Fabra School. So far, they have won more than 380 signatures through Change.org, with the goal of reaching 400.These families ask the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya to reconsider their decision and prioritize the connection with the local educational community during the pre -registration process.

The families involved express their concern, noting that the current situation limits their ability to choose the school and the pedagogical model that best suits the needs of their children. ‘We want to have the freedom to decide which is the best educational option for them,’ say parents.

According to the group, the decision to reduce the educational supply, attributed to the decrease in birth rate, ignores the reality of the center. The Pompeu Fabra School is considered a pillar of the community, with a consolidated educational project that has gained demand. Limiting access to the school could generate a social divide, forcing families to look for more distant alternatives, with the complications that this entails.

Raúl Rubio, director of the school, has shared with the voice of Anoia that the reduction in the birth rate has led to the decrease in a I3 line in Vilanova del Camí. This means that there will be only one line of 19 places available at Pompeu Fabra, leaving families in the Pau district without a place.

In the face of this problem, the City Council of Vilanova del Camí has again urged the Department of Education to consider the reopening of a new I3 line at the school.
