A Community Initiative
The Remei neighborhood in Vic is on the move to become an enclave of senyeres during the day of September 11. The Association of residents of Remei, with the support of several entities, has launched an initiative to distribute around 4,600 flags among the residents, with the aim of waving them on the balconies and windows of the neighborhood.
The idea arose in response to the decrease in flags hung during this celebration and Sant Jordi’s day. Santi Collell, president of the Association, has highlighted the importance of this initiative to preserve Catalan traditions and values.
Involvement and Preparations
During the month of August, the Association of Residents of Remei worked hard to make the 4,600 mittens, which were cut in the children’s clothing workshop of Margarida Dilla, a resident of the neighborhood. From today, the senyeres will begin to be distributed among the residents, accompanied by a triptych that explains the meaning of the party in four languages: English, French, Catalan and Spanish, reflecting the multiculturalism of the neighborhood.
The great involvement of the neighbors and the contributions of various entities and political parties in this initiative, which aims for around 3,000 homes to display the flag during the day of September 11, has been highlighted.
Music and Tradition
In addition to the distribution of signs, the Neighborhood Association has organized the first Osona Sona Music Festival, with the aim of linking it to this celebration. This demonstrates the commitment of the Remei neighborhood to its roots and culture, becoming an enclave of tradition and celebration during the day of September 11.
