A Unique Musical Evening
Next Saturday, March 23 at 9 p.m., the Basilica of Santa Maria de Montserrat will host the traditional Concert de Rams, a musical evening that promises to captivate listeners with its emotional interpretation.
This year, the Bach Collegium Barcelona choir will be in charge of bringing an unforgettable musical experience to the stage. Accompanied by the soprano Maëlys Robinne, the baritone Francesc Ortega and under the direction of Pau Jorquera, the choir will perform the masterpiece of Johannes Brahms, Ein Deutsches Requiem, op.45 (A German Requiem, op.45), in its original version for choir, soloists and piano for 4 hands.
A Universal Experience
This concert, with free entry, is the result of the organization of the Abbey of Montserrat with the support of the Salvat Foundation. The public will also have the opportunity to follow this event live through Montserrat Ràdio and Xarxa+.
A Requiem with a Deep Message
Brahms’ German Requiem is described as a work of gigantic proportions, a cantata that offers a serene reflection on the mystery of death and confidence in life beyond death. With selected texts from the Bible and the Apocrypha, this work not only commemorates the dead, but also invites the living to reflect on the transcendence of life.
The version to be presented consists of seven parts and is written for two vocal soloists (baritone and soprano), mixed choir and orchestra. This work, which was first performed in 1867 in Vienna, promises to transport the audience through a unique and emotional musical experience.
