Legislative reform in suspension
The decree calling for elections, signed by the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, involves the dissolution of Parliament and, therefore, the halting of several legislative initiatives.
After months of stalemate, debates opened on new regulations that included online voting and restrictions on hate speech, as well as proposals to suspend MPs under investigation for corruption and remove Bureau officials.
Protocol against harassment and suspended laws
The review of the protocol against parliamentary harassment is also postponed after possible constitutionality problems. In addition, around 71 laws, including the audiovisual law and the democratic memory law, will see their process interrupted.
Deferred initiatives and commissions
Proposals to abolish aggressive racketeering, create a new abortion law and commissions of inquiry into espionage, vulture funds and other issues will not come to fruition. Equally, plenary monographs on women and the LGBTI group will not take place.
