A Commitment to Completion
The Sagrada Família still faces its final phase with determination and optimism. The delegate president of the Construction Board, Esteve Camps, has expressed this commitment in clear terms: “We will finish you.” This statement reflects the determination of all those involved in the project.
According to Camps, if there are no significant setbacks such as the pandemic, the Sagrada Família is expected to be completed in a maximum of ten years, a milestone that represents an exciting horizon for this iconic architectural work.
Promising Figures
The data for 2023 shows a 24.47% increase in the number of visitors compared to the previous year, with a total of 4,707,367 visitors. Likewise, revenues of 126.9 million euros have been recorded, indicating continued support and public interest in this masterpiece.
Next Steps
North facade and Tower of Jesus
The imminent construction schedule now focuses on the northern facade of the temple, with plans for the construction of the chapel of the Assumption and the tower of Jesus. The latter is scheduled for its inauguration in 2026, coinciding with the centenary of Antoni Gaudí’s death.
In addition, the construction of the Glòria facade is being planned, with more than a hundred sculptures and the participation of several sculptors in an international artist competition.
Recognition and Preparations
The Junta Constructora has requested the Barcelona City Council to declare 2026 Antoni Gaudí Year. In addition, preparations have begun for the unveiling of the artists of the Assumpta chapel and the selection of the winning entities of the Social Action Fund.
