ERC proposes to convert the user fee into a public price
The municipal plenum of Taradell held this Thursday debated the rate of use of Can Costa and Font. The opposition group, ERC, filed allegations against the 2009 tax ordinances and called for the levy to be withdrawn. ERC considers that this fee is only applied in very specific cases and that it would be more appropriate to convert it into a public price for private uses. This proposal generated an intense debate among the members of the plenary session.
The conflict between ERC and the city council
This is not the first time ERC has expressed concern about this rate. Last year, the group already presented a contentious-administrative appeal against its application. The mayor, Lluís Verdaguer, considers that the conflict is between the secretary and ERC, and that the city council has followed the correct procedures. However, ERC insists on withdrawing the fee and converting it into a public price.
Discussion of equipment use limitations
Another point of discussion during the plenary was the limitations on the use of the equipment. Local entities have the right to use the facilities for three days a year, but ERC considers this restriction to be excessive. The mayor defends the limitations as a way to guarantee adequate use of the equipment.
Resolution of the contract for the construction of the indoor swimming pool
The plenary also unanimously approved the resolution of the contract for the construction of the indoor swimming pool. This decision was taken after the works were paralyzed due to the abandonment of the company in charge of the works. The city council will be able to modify the project and award it to another company after the Christmas holidays. The company has agreed to compensate the city council with an amount of 203,000 euros for damages.
