Interinstitutional Coordination for Comprehensive Care
The Government of La Rioja has launched a new inter-institutional coordination protocol to provide comprehensive care to victims of gender violence. This protocol, promoted by the Ministry of Health and Social Policies, brings together all the organizations involved in care and intervention in cases of gender violence, including the General Directorate of Justice and Interior, the General Subdirectorate of Equality, the Rioja Service of Health and the State Security Forces and Bodies.
A Victim-Centered Approach
The main objective of this new protocol is to improve the coordination of existing resources to guarantee that all victims of gender violence receive comprehensive care that covers the social, psychological, health, police, legal and judicial areas. This victim-centered approach seeks to provide greater protection and security, as well as facilitate their comprehensive recovery process.
A Multidisciplinary Team for a Comprehensive Approach
Behind this protocol there is a multidisciplinary team that works together to accompany victims of gender violence and their families in the prevention, protection and recovery process. This team includes professionals from the Ministry of Health and Social Policies, who provide psychological, social and health support, as well as legal and judicial advice.
Update of the Protocol in the Rioja Health Service
The Rioja Health Service (SERIS) is working on updating its action and triage protocol regarding gender violence. This new protocol places women at the center of attention and seeks to strengthen coordination between all parties involved, including Health, Social Services and Justice.
Resources of the Government of La Rioja to Combat Gender Violence
Women’s Advisory Center
The Women’s Advisory Center provides comprehensive care to victims of gender violence, including legal advice, psychological treatment and social support. This center also works with the children of victims to provide them with support and protection.
Crime Victim Assistance Office
The Office of Assistance to Victims of Crime (OAVD) is a free public service that offers comprehensive support to victims of any crime, including victims of gender violence. This office is the Coordination Point for the Protection Orders of La Rioja and the Single Window for the care of victims in the region.
Job Insertion Program
The Government of La Rioja, through the OAVD, has implemented a Labor Integration Program to help victims of gender violence integrate into the labor market. This program has the collaboration of supportive companies that offer employment opportunities to victims.
Positive Relationships Program
The OAVD also carries out the Positive Relations Program, which is taught in educational centers in La Rioja. This program aims to promote healthy relationships, identify indicators of control and jealousy in relationships, and promote the resolution of interpersonal conflicts.
Accommodation Network for Women and their Children
The Government of La Rioja has an Accommodation Network for Women and Their Children that offers places for victims of gender and domestic violence. These shelters provide emergency residential care, accommodation and comprehensive intervention services for victims.
Information Telephone for Women
The Women’s Information Telephone offers personalized, confidential and easily accessible information on gender violence, non-discrimination based on sex and support for pregnant women. This phone is available 24 hours a day.
Protocol for Attention to Women Victims of Gender Violence in the SERIS
The Rioja Health Service has a triage and care protocol for women victims of gender violence that has been developed by a subcommittee of professionals from the emergency service of the San Pedro University Hospital. This protocol has been developed in collaboration with the Technical Commission against Gender Violence of the La Rioja health area and with Prevention and Social Insertion of the Logroño City Council.
