The Government and the Costa Brava Girona Water Consortium (CACBG) make an investment of 10 million euros

The Government and the Costa Brava Girona Water Consortium (CACBG) have announced an investment of 10 million euros to acquire 12 mobile desalination plants. This investment aims to supply a dozen municipalities in Alt Empordà from the month of June. According to the executive, four desalination plants will be installed in Roses, four at the ETAP Empuriabrava facilities and four more at Empuriabrava beach.

Daily production of 1,000 m3 to cover 35% of water demand

It is expected that each of the desalinizers will produce 1,000 m3 of water per day. This production will cover approximately 35% of the water demand of the North Costa Brava supply area of the Costa Brava Girona Water Consortium (CACBG), the body in charge of managing the water service at bona part of the Costa Brava.

Subsidy of 5 million euros from the Catalan Water Agency

For this investment, the Catalan Water Agency (ACA) has awarded a subsidy of 5 million euros to the Costa Brava Girona Water Consortium (CACBG). This grant will help cover part of the investment needed to acquire the desalinizers.

Guarantee of water service in the rest of the areas of the Costa Brava municipalities

The municipalities of Costa Brava Center and South have guaranteed water service. The municipalities of the Central Costa Brava are supplied by the Baix Ter unit, that is to say, water from the Sau and Susqueda reservoirs. On the other hand, the municipalities of the South Costa Brava are supplied with water from the ITAM Tordera and the ETAP Palafolls.
