China is committed to reducing tensions in the Middle East

Chinese authorities said today that they will play a constructive role in reducing tensions in the Middle East following Israel’s attack on Iran and the subsequent Iranian response.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press conference that China stands against any action that could increase tensions and will maintain its constructive role in the region to reduce violence.

Reactions to the attack and the response

Following Israel’s attack on Iran and the subsequent Iranian response, Chinese authorities have expressed opposition to actions that could increase tensions in the region.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently met with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian and condemned the Israeli bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, calling it a violation of international principles and norms.

Relationship between China, Iran and Israel

China is one of Iran’s main allies and one of its most important trading partners, despite the international sanctions that weigh on the country.

Likewise, China is one of the main buyers of Iranian oil, which strengthens its relationship with Iran.

The Chinese authorities have reiterated their intention to maintain a constructive role in the region to contribute to the reduction of tensions and the achievement of peace.
