Ada Colau and her participation in the electoral campaign

The former mayor of Barcelona and coordinator of the Commons, Ada Colau, has returned to Catalonia to join the electoral campaign. This was announced by the candidate for Parliament, Jéssica Albiach, in a press conference at the EFE agency. Colau, together with Jaume Asens, a candidate for the European elections, were part of the Freedom Flotilla, a ship whose objective was to bring humanitarian material from Istanbul to Palestine. However, due to several delays and the uncertainty that has settled on the ground, Colau and Asens have decided to return home.

The importance of the humanitarian mission

According to Albiach, the mission of the Freedom Flotilla is very important and therefore if there is a firm date when it will not be delayed again, Colau and Asens will rejoin the mission. Albiach has taken the opportunity to denounce the situation in the Gaza Strip, where a massacre and genocide is taking place that can be seen practically live in the media.

The role of Colau in the electoral campaign

With the return of Ada Colau, it is expected that she will play a significant role in the electoral campaign. So far, the polls have not been favorable to the Commons, but Albiach has stated that the polls are not final and that they hold results or go up in other polls. Colau and Asens will have to readjust their participation in the meetings so that they can contribute significantly to the electoral campaign.

The current political situation

The 12-M election campaign has begun with uncertainty due to the political situation at state level. Pedro Sánchez has generated uncertainty with his decision to continue as Spanish president. This has caused a unanimous reaction from the socialists, who are calling for a collective resistance to defend democracy. Albiach recalled that the attacks are not against a specific person, but rather seek to weaken democracy. Despite this, Albiach has asked to focus on the Catalan elections and has urged ERC and PSC to clarify whether or not they will agree with Junts, who is considering the refounding of Convergència.
