The ACAIP union criticizes the agreement
The ACAIP union has expressed its criticism of the recent agreement between the Department of Justice and the unions UGT, CCOO, IAC-CATAC and the Intersyndical which has allowed the general prison strike planned for this Friday to be called off. In a tweet on social networks, ACAIP accused the unions of acting with ‘nocturnality and treachery’ and emphasized that no one had asked for a new labor agreement. The union has stated that what is really needed are resignations and more security for prison workers.
The Marea Blava platform demands resignation
The Marea Blava platform has issued a statement in which it demands the resignation of the top managers of the UGT, CCOO, IAC-CATAC and Intersindical unions to negotiate ‘behind the staff’s back’. They have lamented what they consider a ‘betrayal’ and have criticized the fact that the Labor and Safety Measures Convention has gone ahead without consulting the workers. Marea Blava has emphasized that it has not called, supported or supported the general prison strike.
Reactions of prison officials
Prison officials have expressed their displeasure with the agreement and have asked ‘where are the resignations?’ They lamented that the lives and safety of prison workers are worth so little and warned that they will not trade their safety for money. The ACAIP union has assessed that ‘the murder of a colleague does not deserve this treatment’.
Symbolic action of prison officials
Coinciding with the start of the 12-M campaign, prison officials have carried out a symbolic cartel in several Catalan cities. They have put up posters with ERC’s characteristic yellow that reads ‘Esquerra ho esquerra tot’. The aim of this action is to express their unease with the management of the Republican Government and they have criticized the four years of deterioration of strategic economic sectors, waste of resources and degradation of the public service.
