Vox’s internal crisis in the Balearic Islands
The situation among the ranks of Vox remains tense. The national leadership has reacted to the unexpected decision of five deputies of the parliamentary group in the Balearic Islands to expel Patricia de las Heras, the deputy and president of the party, together with Gabriel Le Senne, the president of the Parliament. This decision has generated an internal confrontation in the party.
Support from Vox management
Ignacio Garriga, vice-president and general secretary of Vox, has publicly expressed his support for de las Heras and Le Senne. In addition, he has announced that he will ask the Committee of Guarantees for the immediate expulsion of the five deputies critical of the management. Garriga has criticized the decision taken by the deputies unilaterally, without consulting or informing the party leadership. According to the vice-president, these deputies have acted solely out of personal ambition.
Defense of expelled deputies
Garriga has made it clear that Vox has not expelled any person, but that it has been five individuals who have decided to expel those who represent Vox in the Balearic Islands. The general secretary has expressed his support for the expelled deputies and has affirmed that they are the ones who will fight to defend the ideas and principles of the party. Garriga has mentioned that it is curious that a member like Le Senne, the president of the Parliament, is expelled, precisely at a historical moment where he was about to carry out important changes for bilingualism in the parliament and communication in Spanish.
The general secretary of Vox has asked the five critical deputies to reflect on their commitment and with whom they want to be ideologically aligned.
