by PREMIUM.CAT

A prominent religious event

On May 12 and 13, a large number of the faithful will gather at the shrine of Fatima for the international pilgrimage commemorating the anniversary of the first appearance of Our Lady in Fatima in 1917. This year, the Archbishop of Barcelona, Cardinal Joan Josep Omella, will be in charge of presiding over all the celebrations organized in this pilgrimage. It will be the first time he assumes this responsibility in an event at Cova da Iria.

The International Mass of Our Lady of Fatima

One of the most important celebrations of the pilgrimage will be the international mass of Our Lady of Fatima, which will take place on the 13th at 10.00 am. This mass will be presided over by Cardinal Joan Josep Omella, who will be responsible for directing this very significant religious event.

The challenge of praying

The organizers have emphasized that the challenge to pray is a current and necessary practice. For this reason, the program of the pilgrimage will combine collective prayer with moments of silence and introspection, thus creating an atmosphere conducive to reflection and spiritual connection.

Commemoration of Saints Francis and Jacinta Marto

This international pilgrimage also commemorates the 7th anniversary of the canonization of Saints Francis and Jacinta Marto, who became the youngest non-martyr saints in the Church. Pilgrims will have the opportunity to venerate these two saints in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima on the 13th at 6pm.
