The Government of Spain rejects Milei’s statements
The Government of Spain has issued a statement in response to the statements of the President of Argentina, Javier Milei, addressed to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. In the statement, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation strongly rejects Milei’s accusations, stating that these do not correspond to the relations between two brother countries and peoples.
Milei statements and response from the Spanish Government
Milei openly attacked Sánchez, accusing him of endangering the unity of the Kingdom, making agreements with separatists and leading to the dissolution of Spain. Furthermore, she pointed out that Sánchez has put Spanish women at risk by allowing the illegal immigration of those who threaten their physical integrity, and has affected the middle class with socialist policies that only bring poverty and death.
These statements are a response to a minister of the Spanish Executive, Óscar Puente, who suggested that Milei is a consumer of narcotic substances. The response from the Argentine Presidential Office also included mentions of corruption accusations leveled against Sánchez’s wife, urging justice to act quickly to clarify this scandal.
Commitment of the Spanish Government to bilateral relations
Despite these tensions, the Government of Spain has assured that it will continue working for the well-being of relations between both countries. The statement from the Ministry of José Manuel Albares reaffirms Spain’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening its fraternal ties and its relations of friendship and collaboration with the Argentine people, a will shared by all of Spanish society.
Next events of Milei en España
It has been announced that Milei will participate in a meeting organized in Madrid by the Spanish far-right party Vox, invited by its president, Santiago Abascal, who is close to the Argentine president. This participation is scheduled for May 18.
