A Silent Crisis: The Delay in Dependency Evaluations
The associations Con Tu Ayuda Todos Sumaremos, Somos Uno Más and Unidos Por Un Sueño have come together to denounce the alarming situation faced by people with disabilities in the Canary Islands due to delays in the evaluation and renewal processes of their degree of dependency.
The Human Impact
Behind each pending procedure there is a life, a story and a daily struggle. Each day of waiting is an additional obstacle for these people to access the resources and services essential to live a full and dignified life.
Unmet Responsibilities
Despite advances in public awareness and legislation protecting the rights of people with disabilities, the reality is worrying. Bureaucracy and slow procedures are leaving many people in a situation of uncertainty and helplessness.
A Call to Action
The associations demand that the Government of the Canary Islands implement immediate measures to expedite the processes of evaluation and renewal of the degree of disability and dependency. It is essential to guarantee timely access to the rights and benefits that these people deserve.
Discrepancies and Allegations
The Minister of Social Welfare, Candelaria Delgado, has denied that the Dependency area is suffering a setback. However, Podemos Canarias has presented allegations to the recent Dependency Decree, warning about possible hidden cuts.
The proposed modifications in the dependency system of the Canary Islands have generated concern, since they are considered regressive and contrary to the Law for the promotion of personal autonomy and care for people in a situation of dependency.
