A man from Flaçà loses his life and another is injured
A tragic accident took place this Monday at noon on the C-31 road, in the municipality of Ventalló, near the border with Viladamat. Two cars collided head-on for reasons that are being investigated and the driver of one of them died at the scene. He is a 56-year-old man who lives in Flaçà, according to official sources.
The other driver was seriously injured and was evacuated to the Josep Trueta hospital in Girona by the medical helicopter of the Medical Emergency System (SEM). In addition, two EMS ambulances attended to other people involved in the accident, who did not require hospital transfer.
The C-31 closed in both directions and long delays
The accident has caused the C-31 to be closed in both directions and has generated significant queues of vehicles in the area. The Mossos d’Esquadra have enabled alternative detours on the local road GI-623. The Catalan Traffic Service has recommended drivers to drive with caution and to follow the instructions of the agents.
Five units of the Generalitat Fire Brigade have been dispatched to the scene, which have worked to extinguish the fire that originated in one of the vehicles and to free the trapped occupants. Four patrols of the Mossos d’Esquadra have also intervened, which are in charge of the proceedings of the case and of regulating the traffic.
