2025 will be a very special year for Caldes de Malavella, as it will be the host city of the Giant City, the most important festival in the Catalan giant world. This is what the Agrupació de Colles de Geganters de Catalunya (ACGC) decided in its ordinary general assembly, which was held last Saturday, February 3 at the Can Roig Torres Auditorium in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, where also recognize the work of the city that organized the party in 2023.

Caldes de Malavella will have the privilege of guarding and dancing the giants of the Group, in Work and Culture, who are the representatives of the gigantic culture of Catalonia. In addition, the Colla Gegantera de Caldes, which presented its candidacy with the support of the mayor Salvador Balliu and the entire government team, will prepare a weekend full of activities and shows on the 6th, 7th and June 8, 2025, to welcome the gangs of giants from all over the country and make them enjoy its history, heritage and gastronomy.

A recognition of the culture and the associative fabric of Caldes de Malavella

The mayor of Caldes de Malavella, Salvador Balliu, expressed his satisfaction with the designation of his city as a Giant City of Catalonia in 2025, and emphasized that it is a recognition of the culture and the associative fabric of the town, which has a hundred organizations that work to make Caldes a point of reference in the territory. “This candidacy is a way of claiming our culture, which is not done alone, but which is built by all Caldencans and all Caldencan women every day, and which makes us unique, defines us as a people and as a society; and which is, therefore, one of the best letters of introduction and recognition today, here in front of the rest of Catalonia”, said Balliu.

For his part, the president of the Colla Gegantera de Caldes, Cesc Canet, explained the project they presented to the Auditorium of the Group, and assured that their goal is to make Catalonia proud of its tradition gigantic, and that Caldes de Malavella is the ideal place for it. “Our history, passion and commitment are the basis that motivates us to become the Giant City of Catalonia in 2025. The municipality has been chosen by the Agrupació de Colles de Geganters de Catalunya in its ordinary general assembly that took place on Saturday 3 February in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, where the Ciutat Gegantera 2023 was held.

A benchmark party in the giant world

Caldes de Malavella will host the Ciutat Gegantera in 2025, an event that recognizes the city that organizes the great celebration of the Catalan giant world. This title is granted by the Agrupació de Colles de Geganters de Catalunya (ACGC), which brings together more than 400 gangs from all over the country.
