A Celebration of Women’s Music
Next Saturday, May 25, a unique musical event will take place in Sabadell: the Musicades 2024. This concert marathon is dedicated to female composers of classical and modern music, and is organized by the Municipal School of Music and Professional Conservatory of Sabadell . The main objective of this event is to give visibility to the repertoire written by women and to promote music written by women in music education.
An Ambitious Proposal
This year, the Musicades have decided to join the celebration of the cultural capital of Sabadell with an ambitious proposal. This edition will feature 28 musical performances that will include works by 24 different female composers, 17 of whom are living authors. More than 200 students from the Municipal School of Music and Professional Conservatory of Sabadell will participate in this event, which promises to be an unforgettable musical experience.
A Day Full of Music
The day of the Musicals will begin at 09:45 in the Saló del Teatre Principal. During the morning session, there will be concerts by vocal and instrumental chamber groups. At 12:15 p.m., this part of the marathon will close. Then, at 12:30 pm, the central event of the day will take place: a round table entitled “Leaders and Women of Music”. This round table will bring together five great professionals from the world of music, such as Marta Cardona, Irene Delgado-Jiménez, Yolanda Guasch, Isi López and Elisabeth Ventura.
A Spectacular Closing
At 18:30, the concerts will resume in Plaça Sant Roc, with musical performances starring the great instrumental ensembles of the Municipal School of Music and Professional Conservatory of Sabadell. The closing of the Musicades will be performed by the Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, conducted by special guest Irene Delgado-Jiménez. It will be a spectacular end to this day dedicated to female composers of music.
A Previous Preparation
On Sunday 17 March, the Saló del Teatre Principal in Sabadell hosted the recording of Músiques Empoderades, a talk show by the Catalunya Música broadcaster. In this special program, the presenter Rosa Bartoli and the collaborators Alba Nogueras, Mar Medinyà and Imma Trepat reflected on the future of classical music and the difficulties of accessing higher music studies. This program had the participation of the students and teachers of the Municipal School of Music and Professional Conservatory of Sabadell.
