Sunday’s elections have been a defeat for Esquerra Republicana (ERC), which has lost nearly 180,000 votes and 13 deputies compared to the previous elections.

The formation of a possible government is compromised for ERC, as they hold the key but also the possibility of repeating the elections.

The most viable combinations for a government include the sum of the PSC, the Commons and ERC, or an alliance between Junts, the CUP and ERC.

Pere Aragonès, ERC leader, will have to weigh the pros and cons and opt for the lesser evil when making decisions.

Oriol Junqueras has left the presidency of ERC and a congress has been called for November 30.
