Police officers are requesting search and arrest warrants
The two police officers who are investigating the Democratic Tsunami case have presented a brief before the Central Court of Inquiry number 6 of the National Court. In this letter, they ask the magistrate Manuel García Castellón to issue search and arrest warrants for the members of Democratic Tsunami who have not appeared to testify without justifying their absence (https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de-textos -in Catalan/). These members are Josep Campmajó, Jesús Rodríguez, Xavier Vendrell and Jaume Cabani. They also ask that if Marta Rovira and Oriol Soler do not propose a date to testify, that arrest warrants be issued for them.
Date of the letter and declaration of Marta Molina
The letter was signed on May 23, a day after the statement of Marta Molina, Secretary of Social Movements of ERC, who was the only person who appeared at the summons in the City of Justice ( https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de-textos-en-catala/). In this statement, the prosecutor’s office was not present. According to sources from the prosecutor’s office, the rest of the defendants will be asked to be summoned by video conference before issuing search and arrest warrants. This decision is based on the thesis of the Supreme Court, which has already been established in this same case, where the instructor of the case for Carles Puigdemont and Ruben Wagensberg has offered this possibility after the European elections.
Request for arrest warrants
The police officers propose that if the lawyers of Marta Rovira and Oriol Soler do not propose new dates to testify within 24 hours, arrest warrants should be issued for them (https://www.softcatala.org/resum -of-texts-in-Catalan/). As for the other defendants, such as Xavier Vendrell, Josep Campmajó, Jesús Rodríguez and Jaume Cabani, they are accused of knowingly and deliberately avoiding appearing before the judge in order to avoid the action of justice without any justified reason. They also point out that Xavier Vendrell has deliberately hidden his new address in Colombia to avoid appearing in court. Therefore, they request the international arrest warrant for him. As for Josep Campmajó and Oleguer Serra, the police officers claim that their request to testify via video conference was a way of obstructing and delaying the procedure. As for Jesús Rodríguez, they consider him in rebellion.
