A vindictive day for education in leisure time
On Saturday 1 June, more than 500 associations and spas in Catalonia joined in a protest day to defend education in leisure. This mobilization began with street activities in the towns and cities of the associations and culminated in a large demonstration in Barcelona.
The demand for recognition of educational associationism
During the demonstration, the convening entities demanded recognition of the work of educational associations. This demand has gained strength in recent weeks due to the crisis of camping grounds, which has affected the preparation of summer camps.
The difficulties faced by educational associationism
The entities participating in the mobilization also highlighted other problems that cross educational associationism. This includes the lack of suitable premises to carry out the activities and the difficulties in obtaining the necessary permits to use the public space.
The importance of the recognition of educational associationism
The entities emphasized the importance of the recognition of educational associations and their work in education during leisure time. They emphasized that this educational movement contributes to social transformation and the construction of a fairer and more sustainable society.
The commitment of play areas and groupings
The parks and groups are educational agents that promote community-based leisure education in Catalonia. With their activities during weekends and summer camps, they seek to promote play, collective learning and social involvement of children and young people.
The importance of education in leisure
Currently, there are more than 60,000 children and young people who participate in groups and playgrounds in Catalonia. These organizations work voluntarily to educate children and young people, with the aim of forming people who are critical, aware, active and committed to society.
