The PP and Vox demonstrate their aversion to Catalanism
The Popular Party (PP) and Vox have once again shown their Catalanophobia by rejecting the proposal to declare 2024 as Estellés Year, in honor of the poet Vicent Estellés. This proposal, presented by Compromís, aimed to commemorate the centenary of the birth of the poet from Burjassot. However, both the PP and Vox have opposed this initiative, demonstrating once again their aversion to Catalanism and Catalan culture in the Valencian Country.
Vox rejects the proposal for political reasons
The extreme right of Vox has head-on rejected the proposal arguing that they do not want to whitewash the separatist left and accusing it of working against the Valencians. The far-right trustee José María Llanos has expressed his rejection of the proposal and has questioned the reasons for declaring the Year Estellés at this time. This position of Vox demonstrates its lack of support for Valencian culture and its intention to contaminate Valencian institutions with its extremist ideas.
The PP does not justify its vote against
For its part, the Popular Party has not found any suitable excuse to justify its vote against the proposal. This fact has been criticized both by Compromís and by the PSPV, who have recalled that the PP has already refused on several occasions to honor the poet on other important anniversaries of his life and work. This attitude of the PP highlights its lack of commitment to Valencian culture and its contempt for Valencians.
The PSPV regrets the attitude of the extreme right
The PSPV has lamented the attitude of the extreme right and criticized its aversion to Valencian culture. Deputy José Muñoz has stated that the extreme right is contaminating the Valencian institutions and has urged that they be removed from power. In addition, he highlighted the importance of vindicating Valencian culture and expressed the socialists’ support for the Year of Estellés and freedom.
