An anonymous and confidential tool
Consumers of material related to child sexual exploitation will have access to anonymous and free therapy through a chat. This tool, developed by researchers from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the UIC Barcelona within the framework of the European STOP-CSAM project, offers an effective and firm response to the alarming increase in the production and distribution of images of sexual abuse of minors.
Professional management
Managed by qualified therapists, the tool is anonymous, free and confidential. Helping to manage sexual urges and prevent other behaviors, this tool constitutes a new preventive strategy to address the behavior of those people who show interest in these images.
Positive impact
A recent study carried out in Sweden shows a significant decrease in the consumption of this kind of material in those people who receive therapeutic help. This reaffirms the importance of offering specific therapy to those who show sexual attraction to children and adolescents.
International collaboration
The STOP-CSAM program, financed by the European Union and led by the Charité University Hospital in Berlin, has the participation of specialized institutions from the Czech Republic, Portugal and Germany. In addition, for its implementation in the State, it has the collaboration of researchers from the Department of Medicine of the UIC Barcelona.
